World of Work

Here at The Helping Hands Group we are building on the individuals current skills which will enable them into the World of Work.

Over the years, the management team have been compiling our World of Work curriculum. We have made resources for the curriculum area so that individuals can learn about the World of Work, including different occupations, places of work, equipment used at work and uniforms worn.

Resources are available using different levels of support including photos, pictures, symbols, and words.

We offer:

  • Work Experience on site.

  • Work Placements have previously been enjoyed at Peterborough United Football Club, Newark Farm, The Cresset, Brake Station, MacAnthony Media and Spencer’s Hair Salon.

  • Up skilling individuals following our World of Work curriculum.

We also offer work opportunities for individuals who do not usually attend our service.

Built on the back of over 30 years experience, 11 of which from managing the largest deaf/blind Education Centre in the UK, Suzanne Gilby turned 'what should be' into a reality, creating a service solely centred around individuals.

The Helping Hands Group was created in the loving memory of Karen Gilby.
